1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, and provide reporting information. This policy also covers similar technologies such as localStorage used by this website.

2. Cookies we use

The Keeptrusts website uses a minimal set of cookies and storage mechanisms. We categorize them as follows:

  • Strictly necessary storage: A shared consent cookie (keeptrusts_public_analytics_consent_v1) on the .keeptrusts.com domain stores your analytics consent preference for up to 365 days. This cookie lets keeptrusts.com and docs.keeptrusts.com apply the same choice. A localStorage cache of the same name may be used for faster banner rendering but is not the source of truth.
  • Analytics cookies (optional, consent required): When you consent to analytics, Google Analytics 4, loaded directly from the configured measurement ID and/or through a configured Google Tag Manager container, can set _ga (purpose: distinguish users) and _ga_[ID] (purpose: maintain session state). Google's documented default expiry for both is 2 years, but browser enforcement or site configuration may shorten it. Microsoft Clarity can set the first-party cookies _clck (purpose: persist the pseudonymous Clarity user ID and preferences) and _clsk (purpose: connect page views into one session recording). Microsoft also documents the third-party cookies CLID (identify when Clarity first saw a browser), ANONCHK (record whether MUID is transferred to Microsoft's ANID advertising cookie; Microsoft states Clarity does not use ANID), MR (indicate whether MUID should be refreshed), MUID (identify browsers visiting Microsoft sites for advertising, analytics, and operational purposes), and SM (synchronize MUID across Microsoft domains). Their expiry and availability follow Microsoft's current Clarity configuration and browser controls. Keeptrusts loads Clarity only after you explicitly opt in and sends analytics storage as granted while keeping ad storage denied.
  • Keeptrusts does not enable Google Ads, remarketing, ad-personalization, or social-media tracking. The optional tracking technologies configured on this website are limited to Google Analytics 4, an optional Google Tag Manager container, and Microsoft Clarity, with the consent controls described above.

3. How to manage cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the Cookie Preferences control in the website footer. Clicking it opens a preferences panel where you can accept or decline analytics cookies.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking all cookies may affect website functionality. Refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions.

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data

4. Analytics configuration

Google consent mode is initialized with analytics_storage denied and is updated to granted only after explicit consent; ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization remain denied. After consent, the site may load Google Analytics 4 directly using the configured public measurement ID and may also load Google Tag Manager when a container ID is configured. Microsoft Clarity is activated only after consent through its consent API. We do not configure these services for advertising or remarketing.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time. The 'Last updated' date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
